Delete Your Account

You can delete your MatchyWorld account and the personal data associated with it at any time. There are two ways to do this, described below. Both result in the same outcome: your account and personal information are deleted or anonymized within 30 days, subject to the limited legal retention requirements described in our Privacy Policy.

Option 1 — In-app

Delete from within the app

The fastest way to delete your account is from inside MatchyWorld itself:

Open the MatchyWorld app and sign in.
Tap your profile icon to open Settings.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Your account is removed immediately on confirmation. The associated personal data is then deleted or anonymized within 30 days.

Option 2 — Email

Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app — for example because you have already uninstalled it, lost access to your sign-in method, or are exercising your right to erasure under the GDPR on behalf of another person you are legally authorized to represent — you can request deletion by email.

Send a message to team@matchyworld.net from the email address associated with your account, including:

The email address or phone number used to register
Your display name on the app (if you remember it)
A clear statement that you wish to delete your account

We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request, to protect against unauthorized deletion of someone else's account. Once verified, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days and confirm completion by email.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following are removed or anonymized:

Your profile information (name, age, photos, profile fields)
Your matches and chat history
Your conversations with our in-app AI assistant, Blob, on our servers
The structured preference signals derived from your activity
Any blog posts, test responses, or other content you created

What may be retained

A small amount of data may be retained after deletion, only where we are legally required or permitted to do so. This is described in detail in Section 10 (Data Retention) of our Privacy Policy and may include, for example:

Records necessary to comply with legal obligations or to defend against legal claims
Reports of policy violations or safety issues, in a form that allows us to enforce our Terms of Service and protect other users
Aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies you

Some third-party processors apply their own retention windows for data they hold on our behalf (for example, our AI provider and our error-monitoring provider retain certain data for approximately 30 days before deleting it).

Important: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you sign up again in the future, it will be a new account with no connection to your prior matches, chats, or preferences.
